Although M & I are only about 1/2 way to what Scot and his wife have made it to, he’s right. Marriage is about walking together. It’s good if you keep talking, laugh together, cry together, work through the hard bits together, and importantly… listen to each other. Don’t not say something because you think the other should know, assumption is never a good tool for communication. In turn, if one of you says something the other already knows, it doesn’t mean they think you’re stupid, they just can’t read your mind.

Don’t you love how a topic like this gets all the old marrieds giving out more advice.

I love you both very much. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this.

I think wandering through the day-to-day together, pausing to look at the same vista, and laughing with the same friends together can never, ever, be replaced with the beautiful ‘romantic’ dinner and a bunch of flowers/perfume/underwear, good (and NECESSARY) though those things are.

Go ‘ugly’, go deep.

Some of our greatest moments have been ultra-simple, or covered in baby puke etc -> together.
