The Medication Yo Yo

30 July, 2008 5:41 pm by Geoff

Just at the moment, this is how my life looks:

Start: Feeling fine, thanking God for the wonder of Cold and Flu tablets

Couple of hours later: Feeling the cold and flu tablets wear off. Headache starts returning, start feeling colder, forehead starts feeling warmer. Think to myself: we’ll see how long we can hold out before we feel like we need another tablet.

45 minutes later: Realise that I can’t hold out anymore. Devour the cold and flu tablets like they’re lollies and sit back, expecting the magic to happen.

2 minutes later: Remember that the tablets usually take about an hour to kick in. Start swearing at my own stupidity for not taking the tablet earlier

10 minutes later: In a daze. No longer capable of basic function. Everything aches. No amount of clothes is enough to stop me from feeling like I am nude in an Antarctic blizzard.

30 minutes later: Aching has just about died down. Starting to feel like I’m warming up, forehead starting to cool down. Have enough co-ordination to get myself a drink of water.

15 minutes later:
Return to start and continue process

Really looking forward to not having this flu.

Disclaimer: Don’t worry if the times don’t quite add up – I’m only taking the exact recommended dosage. I wouldn’t in any circumstances recommend taking cold and flu tablets more often than you are supposed to. Just had to put that out there.

Worried your mother-in-law still reads your blog? :P

add having to work through that, and the fact that cold and flu tablets do absolutly nothing for me, and you have me!

    the flu sucks.
hope you get lots of rest and get better soon!

  3. or as I’ve worked out… you really shouldn’t have wine while you’re on the c&f.

Sam, if it makes you feel any better – I’ve been working through it too! But, truth be told, I’m feeling a ton better today than I did yesterday – and haven’t needed the drugs yet at all!

And your wrong Paul – but close: more worried about my mother than mother in law. I know for sure they both read it though: Melinda commented on it last night!
