Clean Up Australia Day
The church got out and involved in Clean Up Australia day on Sunday, and I was struck with just what a positive thing it is to be out there and doing this stuff. Seems to me that it’s times like those when you’re out getting involved in “doin’ the stuff”, that this whole community thing just falls into line. And it’s got to be a good thing to be out there and making a difference to the environment. Especially if it’s not just a jump-on-the-bandwagon thing.
Anyway – we got some good results

Hey Geoff!!
I’m not one to boast or anything buuuuuut…. (I’m going to anyway)
I pulled another two trollies out of the creek and filled them both with rubbish, after everyone else had gone home!
There… now I’m not storing up treasures in heaven, I’m just being a glib exhibitionist on earth. I’m proud of my trollies!
MMmmm Trollies.
Tim
Brilliant. What a wonderful way to show your commitment to the community. I salute you.
Snow in the Yarra Valley!!! Awesome, looks like I’m taking Friday off for some skiiiiiiiiing. Oh, and some nice pine trees to crunch into as well. Aceness.
but… seriously can I question something…

How effective do you think we really were?
What were our aims, and how well did we fulfill them?
For us at Ranges getting out with the environmental stuff has a two fold purpose.
Firstly, If it is God’s creation, and ‘it’s good’, there is a strong case that we should be looking after it. There is a strong theological argument to care for the environment.
Secondly, getting out with people other than Christians is a good form of Evangelism. Being able to connect with people and agree that we care for the environment is a great place to connect.
I was looking for pictures of rubbish and found your before and after shots. We go to a church in Sydney and we had the same thought. Had a top morning, met heaps of people who would never have met otherwise, did a bit of good. Nothing wrong with that I say. Hope we can both get an even bigger group of pew warmers out there next year.
