Moving on
Today was Pete’s last service at Yarra Valley Vineyard. It was a pretty emotional time for everyone, and as a stalwart at YVV, it was a pretty big deal to see the original planting family leave. It’s interesting, before writing this I did a quick search back through the archives for the post of Pete and Kathy’s announcement, and stumbled across this pearler:
“I might be a bit of an emotional person – but I’m not willing to do that in public”
Yeah, well completely blew that one out of the water today. In the service today there was a chance for the congregation (that’s such an anglican word) to speak about the impact Pete and Kathy had, etc, and I got up and didn’t manage to hold off on the tears as I talked about having grown up in the church and how proud I was to be a part of our church. What a girl.
It’s a pretty full on deal, having these two leave. It certainly hadn’t hit me properly, and there’s definitely a feeling that life isn’t going to be the same in the life of YVV. And while I’m sure that is likely to be a positive, it’s the in-between time as we wait around for a successor that throws the whole deal into chaos, at least in my mind.
Background for if you’ve got no idea what I’m talking about:
Never know – might just have to get involved in a plant….
